Opportunity
Healthy People 2030 is a long-term federal initiative that tracks hundreds of national health objectives. HP2030 needed a durable design system to create a reliable visual language that could support years of updates, new content, and shifting public health priorities. The system also had to handle complex content structures and remain fully Section 508 compliant so the information was accessible and inclusive for all users.

Authored brand guidelines
Created a comprehensive guide that unified visuals across all HP2030 digital products and ensured consistent, accessible design choices.
Built an accessible design system in Figma
Developed scalable components that worked across light and dark modes, long labels, and complex content structures.
Created culturally sensitive visuals
Designed flexible, inclusive graphics for LHI infographics covering nuanced and abstract public health issues.

Reflection
This project strengthened my ability to build accessible, flexible design systems that support complex, evolving content. It was especially rewarding to create a toolkit that improved our team’s workflow and helped make complex public health information easier to understand and act on. Contributing to a system that supports accurate, sensitive communication at a national scale was a particularly meaningful part of the work.
